Change motherboard on dell e623011/7/2022 I have a couple lying around here someplace from when I've had MB replaced but didn't need the key card as the original install on the drive re-activated just fine. I just dropped on the A02 bios and still cannot get any life in the mSATA. After a lot of investigation and communication with my Key Account Manager at Dell they admitted that Yes, the 6230 DO support mSATA - however it is not official until August 2012. Which one comes with the motherboard when a tech comes out. Hey, I have the new E6230 and have bought a OCZ Nocti mSATA drive. I'm pretty sure you are at the point of just needing the replacement license key card for the OS. Not sure if he would have been paid twice for it if he got assigned the 2nd time. But these guys are paid by the trip I think, so he probably wanted to get his part closed and just have you open another support for it again. But bad on him for not letting you know the M.2 drive was missing. If the 1st tech hadn't messed up as much (taking original M.2 drive with the first board) then the 2nd guy might have been able to fix it all after figuring out the cord issue. Where both techs failed to do their jobs. What happened here was one of those perfect storms. Call Microsoft for phone activation and they tell me they cant help and to call Dell. Call Dell support spend hours on the problem, reload Windows per their instructions and it fails and they decide to send another tech but in 2 days to replace the motherboard again, so now the system has been down for a week and a half! I do some research, find a Windows 10 download based on the service tag, re-load it and still not activating. Call support again and they send an M.2 SSD with the image BUT without the screw that holds it down and for me to load and configure!? Really, a regular user can do that!? I do, they send another tech 2 days after that, he troubleshoots and finds a bad monitor cable causing the problem even though the first time they had me disconnect everything and try to power the system and it did not work!? 2nd tech runs tests and calls me. Troubleshoot with Dell support and they concluded the motherboard needs replacing. Here is the story: Dell Precision 3620 with next day on site warranty died.
